After a few years of casually pottering around on the mountain bike through South Barrule, Cringle, and Axnfell, I started to get a bit bored. So, one rainy afternoon, I found myself scrolling through Komoot.
Komoot is an app I used a few years back to plan routes for endurance events like the Atlantic Coast Challenge. At the time, I’d converted some of the trails from the Isle of Man Mountain Bike Trail Guide into maps I could upload to my Garmin.
While browsing, I stumbled across some of those old routes and thought, why not give them another go? So, I grabbed the e-bike, a mate, and my Garmin watch, and we set off to tackle the Three Forest Loop.
It turned out to be very wet and muddy. Many of the trails had turned into miniature rivers, and to top it all off, I realised I’d forgotten my waterproof jacket. By the end of it, I was absolutely soaked — but honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
