So, yet another reset.

I’ve eaten far too much over the last few days — not entirely sure why, other than I’ve been feeling a bit low. Motivation to train has been pretty much non-existent. I haven’t felt like running or lifting weights at all.

It’s frustrating, because I’d been doing well with clean eating and intermittent fasting, and had actually started to feel really good.

When I say clean eating, for me that means simple, whole foods — things I can identify and that aren’t processed. Think cooked chicken breast, tomatoes, avocado, boiled eggs, and nuts. I was also keeping my carbs on the lower side, which seemed to work nicely.

Earlier this week, on Monday, I had a great run around the track. It was a 12-minute interval session where I kept my heart rate in the 140s — a solid Zone 2 workout. I managed a comfortable 5-minute kilometre pace, which, for a bigger guy like me, I’m pretty happy with. Sure, I could’ve gone faster if I’d ignored the heart rate zones, but that wasn’t the point.

Tomorrow, I’ve got a double run and core session planned — so I really need to get an early night and hit the ground running (literally).

The plan:

  • Run 1: 15-minute warm-up, 40 minutes in Zone 2, then a 10-minute cool down.
  • Run 2: A shorter 30-minute run with warm-up and cool-down, including a few Zone 3 intervals.

Sounds like fun, right?

Now I just need to drag myself out of bed and find the motivation to actually do it.
